Crystal structure of the anticodon arm of tRNAphe
An interesting aspect of transfer RNAs is their interaction with the codon strand. Although, in living systems the interaction takes place in the ribosome, at present high resolution data for the ribosomal complex are not available. On the other hand, the interaction in solution is of some interest, more so in the case of the molecule we are studying, the yeast tRNAphe , because of experimental data indicating intriguing effects of base 37 in the anticodon loop on the binding energetics of codon strands.
